Grand Unified Theory (GUT)

An attempt to describe the strong and weak nuclear forces and electromagnetic force in a single unified theory. Partial success has been achieved by physicists such as Steven Weinberg, Abdus Salam, Sheldon Glashow and Howard Georgi. Weinberg and Salam united the weak nuclear and electromagnetic forces. Superstring theory tries to unify gravity with these grand unified theories to produce a "theory of everything" (TOE).
